Job Description
Basic Function: The WDAV Summer intern will receive hands-on experience in all areas of station operations, including: administration, membership, digital media, marketing, and production. The WDAV Summer Intern will performing essential tasks to ensure efficient station operations. The program is designed to provide an opportunity to explore careers in the broadcasting industry while providing meaningful and practical business experience.
Duties may include:
Creating a weekly digital newsletter
Journalistic and “Listicle” writing
Learning how to effectively use social media for business
Data management and analytics
Conducting research/reporting findings
Remote and/or in-person planning of programs and events
Filing/sorting/categorizing media
Learning new software/databases
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in classical music, public media, and/or broadcasting
Effective writer with a pleasing/readable style
Able to to design/select/arrange digital graphics
Comfortable with prioritizing projects and tasks
Builds/creates efficiencies
Looks for creative solutions to problems/issues
Learns new software quickly
Can transition easily between highly varied tasks and projects
Extremely reliable, pays attention to detail, can work independently/remotely with minimal supervision
Social media experience
Excellent interpersonal communicator
Working Conditions: Office environment with potential for remote work; ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision. This position may require evening and weekend work depending on events scheduled.
