Part-Time Summer Day Camp Co

Job Description

Starting Wage: $14.49/hr, depending on qualifications

Date of Employment:  May 1 – September 1 (exact dates will be communicated during the hiring process based on location)

Would you like to be a part of THE BEST SUMMER EVER?  At Summer camp you get to dress up, sing songs, participate in arts & crafts, swimming, Gaga, and fun games and activities all while making a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model and help them achieve personal growth.

If hired for this position you will get to know a small group of campers, supervise them through a range of fun activities, all while keeping them safe.  You will also be the facilitator of fun and friendship.  You will spend your days outside laughing, talking, and participating in everything from arts & crafts to soccer and swimming.

By the end of the Summer you will have great skills in making lanyards, know lyrics to crazy camp songs, trivia to amaze your friends, the ability to speak to anyone about anything, an outfit for every imaginable themed event, an AWESOME camp T-shirt, and an excellent tan.

 

In this position you will be able to use your skills to:

  • Build relationships:
    • With your campers and get to know them as individuals
    • With your staff team, working together to make sure everyone is having fun
    • Between campers, helping them meet new people and get out of their comfort zone
  • Make great decisions:
    • You will think about how your actions affect staff and campers
    • You will help campers learn how to make good decisions
  • Provide quality results by:
    • Providing the highest quality programming to campers
    • Being the best camp leader you can be
    • Setting summer goals not only for yourself, but for your campers
  • Be a role model and teach values:
    • Show empathy for your campers and fellow staff, even in a stressful situation
    • Live the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility
