Full-Time State Tax Manager – 210000ZX

Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented State Tax Manager. This role is based in Columbus, IN with 100% remote work available and periodic travel post pandemic.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Responsible for advising on tax laws, specifically state and local and partnering with the business to provide guidance on tax regulations in one or more jurisdiction, managing tax returns, tax reconciliations and projects related to the application of state and local tax laws
• Responding to tax notices to ensure any state tax methodologies have been updated appropriately and communicated to tax department and corporate finance leaders as necessary which includes reassessing any outstanding FIN 48 reserve positions
• Partnering with the business to provide guidance on tax regulations in one or more jurisdictions
• Leveraging various resources by researching applicable regulations, tax codes, and case laws to ensure taxes are recorded in compliance with regulations
• Coaching and mentoring tax accountants, assigning work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs, assessing performance and providing feedback to at least two direct reports
• Examining the current and future funding requirements of the company’s various legal entities in close collaboration with Legal, Tax and Treasury to determine the appropriate capital structure for those entities considering tax, and legal implications

REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting or other related field required and Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification or applicable work experience
• Minimum 5+ years’ hands on experience with state tax accounting calculations and reporting, state and local apportionment / eliminations review, and state process improvement projects
• Strong experience reviewing and improving estimated state and local tax payment calculations and processes
• Strong experience reviewing state and local income and franchise tax returns for domestic operations and leading assigned state and local audits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
