The Sourcing Manager – R&D will provide procurement support to our Pre-Clinical Research and Early Drug Discovery operations in the Boston, MA area. Our dynamic Purchasing Organization is part of UCB Global Purchasing and is instrumental in delivering value to our customers and stakeholders driving breakthrough strategic sourcing projects and contributing to the overall transformation of UCB into a patient-centric biopharmaceutical leader.

You like to work in an environment where you can:

•Contribute to the development of the Global Sourcing category and execute US leg of such global category.
•Source and run competitive bidding process for designated spend areas in line with the Global Purchasing Strategy for a given category.
•Lead tactical sourcing work in line with category strategy
•Identify repetitive buys as candidates for frame contracts and/or catalogs. Directs country requisitions to frame contracts and/or catalogs & other procurement solutions where available.

You will contribute by:

•Delivers individual annual savings targets and other Purchasing metrics.
•Establishes good working relationship with internal scientists and other stakeholders.
•Ensures that all relevant contractual documentation is handled as per the defined Contract Management Process.
•Identifies non-added value processes or administrative work and suggest improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6 years purchasing experience supporting pre-clinical research operations in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Demonstrated affinity with commercial & science sourcing challenges and good negotiation skills.
•Strong team player but able to work independently.
•Ability to handle multiple priorities within established timeframe.
•Experience in a multicultural environment
•Strong analytical skills
•Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office and SAP (SRM), Ariba.
•Entrepreneurial mind set, out of the box thinker, change agent and accelerator.
•Takes initiative with follow through to execution.
•Passionate about Biopharma science and industry.
•Persevering, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial mindset combined with a strong sense of responsibility, ethics and flexibility.
•Occasional business-related overnight travel (up to 20%) required.
