POSITION SUMMARY
The Social Media Manager (SMM) is a strategic storyteller and digital strategist responsible for shaping how United Way of Salt Lake, 211 Utah, Promise Partnership Utah, and Utah’s Promise are represented and interact across social platforms. This role drives the organization’s social presence with an eye toward long-term brand building, audience growth, partner engagement, and mission impact.
The SMM integrates data-driven insights with creative content approaches to elevate brand visibility, expand influence within key stakeholder groups, and strengthen community connection. Collaborating with internal teams, the SMM ensures our social ecosystem reflects organizational priorities, brand and message consistency, supports campaigns through amplification, and advances strategic goals.
PRIMARY TASK
Drive a cohesive, data-driven social media strategy across four brands—creating and managing content that strengthens visibility and engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership and Planning
- Develop and execute a multi-platform social media strategy aligned with organizational and department-level strategic goals.
- Set measurable objectives tied to brand health, audience engagement, and digital conversion outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for thought leadership, issues advocacy, and narrative storytelling.
- Conduct competitive landscape analysis to position brands as a social sector leader.
Content Strategy and Creative Development
- Produce, edit, and publish high-quality, brand-aligned content.
- Establish strategic narrative and content architecture across platforms.
- Collaborate with in-house designers on engaging, innovative creative.
- Plan and execute multi-channel campaigns.
Community Engagement and Partnership Activation
- Build and maintain meaningful digital relationships with partners, donors, stakeholders, and influencers.
- Engage with audiences through timely responses and proactive conversation-building.
- Attend events to capture mission-driven stories.
Analytics, Optimization and Reporting
- Use social media and analytics tools to evaluate performance and improve strategy.
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 3-5 years in social media marketing.
- Expertise across major social platforms and ad managers.
- Experience with social media management tools required.
- Google Ads and SEO experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, take in new information, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays in physical and electronic mediums. The team member must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $62,000 – 72,000. Salary commensurate with experience. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
