The Position

At Kessel Run (KR) we are looking to strengthen and grow our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Team by hiring a team lead with a bias for action to join the All Domain Common Platform (ADCP) Operations portfolio. The SRE Team is responsible for ensuring resiliency and availability for products and services utilizing the All Domain Common Platform (ADCP). ADCP consists of applications deployed to numerous cloud-native runtimes including Pivotal Cloud Found (PCF) and Kubernetes (K8s). You will be responsible for managing and improving the 4 stages of incident response: detection, reporting, response, and prevention. You will assist developers in building production ready applications and platform engineers to deploy resilient, self-healing applications.

What You Will Do

  • Understand modern software development methodologies and tooling (continuous integration, version control, modern build systems and dependency management, SAST/DAST)
  • Ideate approaches to automation, deployment, and change management for third party systems/applications (treat operations as a development effort)
  • Write robust automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operation of third party systems/applications.
  • Serve as Incident Commander for outages, as well as lead and participate in postmortems.

Who You Are

  • You are passionate about ensuring the availability and resiliency of production systems
  • You are an experienced  project manager passionate about providing for a team of highly motivated engineers
  • You possess a sound understanding and ability to apply the OSI model and SDLC principles
  • You are resourceful and confident multitasking in high pressure environments to execute incident response playbooks
  • You are experienced using VCS’ like Git and DevOps platforms such as Github or Gitlab
  • You are familiar with the functionalities of CI/CD pipelines and performing GitOps
  • You have hands-on experience utilizing IaaS from AWS, Azure or GCP
  • You are familiar with virtualization, container orchestration, and platforms such as PCF PAS, Kubernetes, etc
  • You have experience utilizing application frameworks such as Springboot, Node, Django, etc to develop highly reliable production bound services
  • You are comfortable speaking up if you believe the wrong technical decision is made
    • You have or can obtain 8570 IAT Level 2 (Such as CompTIA Sec+ CE) within a certain timeframe
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-13 up to GS-14 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $79,468 to $122,077 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $102,601 to $157,614
