Full-Time Senior Project Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Project Manager at Warn Automotive is responsible for the overall direction, evolution and completion of specific projects and programs according to strict deadlines (on-time) while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. This role will ensure that customer and business expectations are satisfied through the coordination of development and production activities by managing project and program requirements and customer expectations, based on agreed-upon project and program plans.

 

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Define the overall objectives of the projects and programs.
  • Engage with internal team, the customer, and/or key stake holders to define project and program requirements and scope.
  • Establish project work plans to meet all project targets including project and program costsschedules and timingcustomer requirements and risks.
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of program; including, but not limited to, organizing and documenting daily meetingscustomer meetings, product validation milestones, and test builds.
  • Drive milestone achievement to targets and align with project and program performance measurement.
  • Documents and manages Risk Assessment with mitigation planning alternatives.
  • Drive improvements to increase Warn Automotive & customer value and reduce cycle time.
  • Leads, prepares for, and presents program, project and quality reviews, including progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Ensure project team is responsible for all disciplines, team success and the results of each team member.
  • Establish and manage project and program budget to attain overall profitability, revenue, and margin.
  • Effectively applies our standards and practices. Complies, practices, and enforces program and product standards, including Lessons Learned.
  • Builds, develops and grows any business relationships (internal & external) vital to the success of the project(s).
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.

  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.

Availability Requirements:

Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions of this position, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers and employees, and the availability of job-related tools, equipment and resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular, consistent availability, accessibility, and presence on-site and after-hours.

This is a full-time position located in Portland, OR. Standard/typical days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area travel may be expected.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 7-10 years of successful project and program management in a technical organization with proven experience in managing customer and business expectations.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or with experience with products similar to those manufactured at Warn Automotive is preferred.
  • Strong, proven experience working in cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, sourcing and validation test is preferred.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

· PMP Certification preferred, or equivalent. PMI-ACP is beneficial.

· Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project and program management with similar products/processes.

· Effective leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.

· Working knowledge of IATF, ISO 14000 and APQP concepts and practices.

· Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

· Ability to react to customer, process and product adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Flexibility during times of change.

· Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.

· Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management and other teams.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to communicate with customers, suppliers and business leaders and team members across multiple functions.

· Strong professional oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position necessary to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service. Ability to present information in a manner designed to educate or inform other team members and customers in one-on-one or group interactions as directed.

· Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills including ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a calm, rational and respectful demeanor, and communication style in times of stress occasioned by work demands, tight timelines, heavy production expectations, unexpected quality control issues, and other work-related issues or concerns that may cause a heightened level of anxiety, frustration, anger, disappointment, confusion, etc.

· Strong technical, troubleshooting, problem solving, research, organizational and analytical skills, combined with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines. Ability to multitask is also essential while remaining flexible with changing priorities and deadlines.

· Well-reasoned decision making with a high attention to detail regarding organization, planning, workflow, and project prioritization to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.

· Highly ethical, self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and/or with limited direction, as well as cooperatively in a team environment, while consistently demonstrating collaborative, respectful and productive work habits.

Physical Requirements:

· Work for extended periods of time in a stationary position daily while operating a computer and other tools and equipment in conjunction with completing required job tasks. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

· Move to, from and within the designated work area frequently and consistently throughout the work day and regularly throughout our building and/or across Warn-related property site locations, possibly during inclement weather.

· Use a personal computer or other technology devices frequently and consistently for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data and other business-related information.

· Lift, transport and/or move up to 20 pounds of weight occasionally in the performance of regular duties. Occasional bending, stooping, walking up and down stairs, standing on a step stool and kneeling may be required.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. This position’s job duties are performed generally in an office, shop, or warehouse type environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud noises from operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals and vapors, and possibly injury associated with work involving manufactured parts, assembly and heavy machinery. The team member may also occasionally be required to work in an office environment with traditional office lighting and office furniture, as well as consistent and frequent noise, interruptions and other similar distractions.
