Full-Time Senior Platform Engineer
Job Description
On a mission to bring modern cloud best practices to the Air Force, we are looking for multiple experienced software engineers to lead Kessel Run’s Platform Engineering team. You’ll join a group of diverse, passionate engineers from all manner of backgrounds, responsible for the development, security, and operations of Kessel Run’s global runtime platform. Together, we’ll revolutionize the way software is developed in the government sector, and tackle critical problems that impact everyone.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrate in depth knowledge of one or more toolchains, platform offerings, and frameworks associated with cloud deployments within a CI/CD environment
- Experience with cloud native software engineering models (e.g IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Serverless)
- Track record of building services that scale on cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Azure
- Demonstrate experience architecting and building platform services at scale
- Experience with telemetry/logging/performance (e.g.. Logstash/Kibana, DataDog, Splunk, FluentD, CloudWatch)
- Deep understanding of technical and functional designs of relational and document databases
- Practical experience implementing and enhancing a platform’s path to production using of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment process
What you will do
- Develop core services that expose platform capabilities via a set of APIs to be consumed by our product teams
- Manage the lifecycle of software engineering projects, including but not limited to, gathering requirements, communicating design decisions to cross-functional teams and proactively seek and incorporate user feedback
- Develop automation, deployment, and change management for third party systems/applications
- Engineer robust idempotent automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, operation of third party systems/applications
- Work with development/testing, deployment, systems/infrastructure and project teams to ensure continuous operation of build and test systems.
- Establish and apply appropriate branching strategies and labeling/naming conventions using version control technologies like git.
- Manage source code repositories, branching strategies, code reviews, and testing
- Deliver architecture designs and solutions for public, private and hybrid clouds covering the cloud architecture tiers and portfolios of cloud services IaaS, PaaS, SaaS

- You have hands-on experience with major cloud native software platforms and CI/CD environments
- Are willing to debug issues across the platform
- You feel comfortable speaking up when the wrong technical direction is being taken.
- You are a self-starter and have a passion for growing your skills and tackling challenge problems.
- You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
