Full-Time Senior Innovation Brand Manager

Based in Boulder, CO, Purely Elizabeth is a high-growth natural foods company focused on creating products using elevated, nutrient-rich ingredients. Their award-winning products include granola, oatmeal and baking mixes.  Founded in 2009 by Elizabeth Stein, a certified holistic nutrition counselor, the company is dedicated to helping consumers thrive on their wellness journey.

 

SUMMARY

Purely Elizabeth is seeking a highly motivated Senior Innovation Brand Manager to lead R&D for our growing brand. This role will develop and champion innovation that results in the achievement of revenue and profitability objectives.

  • Strategy: Business case to support new product launches.
  • Pipeline Development: Identify category/competitive/consumer insights and develop concept and products to fuel brand growth.
  • Commercialization: Manage innovation marketing activities including launch timeline, product development (with R&D, CMO, CEO), product positioning, claims, packaging development, volume build, pricing recommendations, post launch assessment.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop innovation from concept to launch including concept development, consumer research, product development, size of prize projections/forecasting, management of pricing, margin, and product positioning. Develop comprehensive sell-in presentation for retailer meetings.
  • Develop and own the new product launch & tracking scorecard to analyze results, compare to plan, benchmarking.
  • Create a learning plan to validate new innovation and inform future pipeline. Propose research with KPIs/outcome and business case.  Lead research including CLTs, concept tests, etc.
  • Lead packaging design brief for Innovation new platform launches, working closely with internal Design team/external Design Agency to bring the consumer value proposition to life
  • Develop strategy and plan for how to bring sustainability to life in innovation.
  • Analysis of syndicated data for Purely Elizabeth new products, competitive launches, and overall category product trends with key learnings, implications, and recommendations. Presentation to Leadership Team.
  • Work in partnership with Brand and Marketing Communications to develop launch support plan.
  • Lead cross functional teams. Manage communications and project details in collaboration with Director of Commercialization including Stage-Gate documents, timelines, agendas.
  • Travel will be 15-30%, with the high end being required if the role is based outside of the HQ area, as travel back to the office will be required for key meetings.
  • While this role is open to remote candidates, it will require hours to be worked in Mountain Time.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of directly applicable CPG marketing experience, with 2 years minimum at a large, national CPG organization (P&G, Unilever, Nestle, etc) in a brand management or innovation marketing role.
  • Experience in Nielsen/IRI/Spins data portal and analysis.
  • Direct experience developing new products with R&D/Food Science, Engineering/Plant operations or Co-Manufacturing commercialization, Regulatory Affairs.
