Full-Time Senior Advisor for Innovation in Integrated Mobility

Job Description
- Manage the Connected Autonomous Shuttle Supporting Innovation (CASSI) program that pilots autonomous shuttle projects throughout North Carolina.
- Direct the research and development program for Integrated Mobility focusing on data collection, analytics, and project review for technology integration into the North Carolina public transit, bicycle, and pedestrian network.
- Develop policy and best practices for technology implementation.
- Work with industry leaders to develop projects advancing North Carolina transportation.
- Present complex project details to executive management, Federal, State, local officials, and the public.
- Serve as our Senior Advisor for Innovative and Emerging Technologies leading programs and projects.
- Represent our Integrated Mobility Director in decision-making, client contacts, meetings with local elected and system officials.
- Present strategic innovations and updates to Executive Management, Federal, State, and local officials.
- Direct data collection, analytics, and reviews and integrate results for public transit, pedestrian, and bicycle-oriented services into all transportation plans and projects.
- Experience working with industry leaders in cutting edge transportation technologies and implementing these technologies with research projects, policy development, and demonstration pilots.
- Advanced project management skills to lead teams of researchers, engineers, and community stakeholders.
- Communications skills to comfortably communicate complex project details to community leaders and the public.
- Knowledge and oversight of Integrated Mobilities’ programmatic areas.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines/regulations related to public transportation and bicycle/pedestrian programs.
- Demonstrated extensive experience and expert ability to manage projects and programs, including organizing and leading development and delivering innovative and emerging technologies projects/programs that are technically complex requiring coordination with stakeholders with varied objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate complex and unique issues, independently solve complex problems where no clear precedent exists, implement new accounting structures, and consult with management to implement identified resolutions.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently serve as a technical resource for a Branch Manager, Director, senior leaders, Division and external transportation partners.
- Communication skills to effectively engage in verbal and written forms and establish/maintain effective working relationships with state, federal and local government officials, planners, and community leaders.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 4+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
