Job Description

SUMMARY

The Scrum Master is a servant leader and coach for an Agile team or a team on an Agile Release Train (ART). The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating and guiding software development and conversion activities from feature refinement through solution implementation using a Lean Agile Framework. The individual in this role facilitates team-level or Program/ ART level processes, focuses on relentless improvement, oversees execution, identifies, escalates, and removes impediments so the team can reach its goals, manages risk, advocates for, and coaches the team on Lean Agile principles, coordinates as needed with other scrum teams and other ARTs, and communicates progress to stakeholders. This role typically involves extensive interactions with product development, technology solutions, service delivery and/or other cross-functional and shared services teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Exhibits Lean Agile leadership; advocates and coaches Lean agile practices and mindsets
Acts as a servant leader to on and offshore the teams, driving the team to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective lean agile practices
Facilitates team-level ceremonies and/or Program/ART level meetings and events to support the delivery of business value
Coordinates team preparation for ART events as applicable
Ensures work items are tracked and visibility maintained for the team and/or ART via program boards and other information radiators
Generates reports and metrics to assess progress, performance, and improvement opportunities
Conducts release management functions in support of related activities, as applicable
Eliminates impediments to team progress
Guides team on identifying, classifying, mitigating, and escalating risks
Works with technology and business to ensure strategy and execution alignment
Works with the Product Owner (PO) and/or Product Manager (PM) to ensure product backlog Features and User Stories are prioritized by the PO/PM and maintained by the team
Serves as liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure targets and requirements are met
Provides feedback and coaching to the team and less experienced Scrum Masters
Enables organizational effectiveness by identifying process gaps or areas for improvement and recommending and implementing solutions
Performs additional related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
Requires 3+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master or Project Manager OR a combined 5+ years of experience in those roles and/or other Agile roles including Product Owner, Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Developer, Tester

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Adequately trained and knowledgeable in agile work management standards, activities and key metrics required at the team level
Scrum Master trained
At least one Agile Certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Scaled Agile Framework Practitioner (SAFe-SP))
SAFe Scrum Master Certification is highly preferred
Azure DevOps experience or other work management tool experience
Experience managing deliverables and generating team reports and metrics; uses metrics to lead the team in identifying improvement opportunities
Ability to work with all levels of organizations and various personalities to keep teams focused on delivery
Experience as a Coach or Scrum Master for distributed teams; ability to coordinate work for geographically dispersed/remote teams
Skilled in the use of negotiation techniques to reach agreement when there are widely differing viewpoints
Demonstrated ability to drive results through collaboration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to any audience
Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance and build high morale among team members
Black Knight product knowledge, mortgage, and financial services experience preferred

The target pay range for this position typically starts at $80,000 – $125,000.

Black Knight carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, specialty, experience, and work location. The base salary (exempt) or hourly rate (non-exempt) is just one component of the total rewards package offered to our employees, including potential bonus or commission eligibility, insurance (medical/dental/vision/life/disability), matching 401(k) plan and matching employee stock purchase plan.
