Full-Time Research Associate – Institutional Effectiveness
Job Description
Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, exempt Research Associate. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Planning & Effectiveness and works with departments throughout the college to lead, collaborate, conduct, and facilitate continuous improvement processes for Clark’s programs, services, and overall strategic initiatives. This position is essential to effectively serving Clark’s students as the demand for higher educational credentials are increasing rapidly. To meet the community needs, the mission of Clark’s work has shifted from preparing students to be college-ready to transforming the college to be student-ready. This transformation is only possible with Research Associates working with leadership and personnel in programs and services to evaluate effectiveness, assess programs and services in terms of success and learning, develop predictive analytic models for programs and services to proactively achieve outcomes, and provide research and proven best practices to support improvement. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with college community to develop research questions and subsequently perform analyses to answer research questions, in support of decision-making related to the strategic plan.
• Lead research projects by developing and testing hypotheses, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies as well as appropriate statistical methods, to guide strategic planning and decision-making.
• Conduct program assessment by developing program objectives, evaluate and determine the effectiveness and return on investment of intervention strategies.
• Serve as the expert in outcomes assessment methodology and interpretation of educational program review data.
• Lead and conduct work to evaluate pilot programs and new college-wide initiatives, also participate in the design of the pilot programs and new college-wide initiatives.
• Create surveys and other research instruments, develop sampling methodology, conduct analysis, and present results using sound research principles.
• Create and maintain interactive interfaces for accessing data, reconfigurations of existing data, and datasets and reports that support college-wide decision-making.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with college entities to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
• Communicate research findings to the college community and others interested, orally and in-writing and both formally and informally.
• Create and use statistical enrollment, transfer and retention prediction models to inform planning.
• Create and maintain data warehouses.
• Create and maintain complex reports or interactive interfaces for accessing data that support decision-making.
• Create and maintain extract, transform and load (ETL) procedures for data sets that support institutional research and analytics.
• Decipher and provide relevant data to support efforts to secure additional funding, including grant development.
• Direct and conduct the work related to external reporting and evaluation requirements and assist in the development of systems to collect pertinent information required by secured external grant funding and federal regulations, e.g., IPEDS.
• Conduct professional development opportunities on continuous improvement, including outcomes assessment.
• Work with college community to ensure data integrity, including consistency in coding.
• Represent Clark College’s interest in state-wide organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Planning and Effectiveness.
