Under the leadership of the Associate General Counsel & Senior Director of Risk Management, this position provides records management services, including retention and destruction policies and procedures, and will manage the Firm’s records in compliance with legal regulations and internal policies. This role will supervise the records management team and is responsible for applying and maintaining established recordkeeping processes and procedures in support of the Firm’s record management goals. This position is eligible for a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule after an initial period of training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the attorneys and staff to provide the support and training needed in record creation, retrieval, archiving, disposition, transfers, and all other aspects that may be involved in a records lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Administrators across the Firm to assess needs, identify gaps or areas of improvement, and recommend improvements.
- Recommend and implement operational best practices and procedures.
- Manage the disposition process of eligible records including reporting of retention eligible boxes and folders, oversight of the approval process, tracking client notifications, and coordinating the destruction of approved client matter records.
- Identify and leverage technology to support the records management program’s goals and to achieve efficiency. Define requirements to support a modern best-in-class records management program.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in information technology, library science, or an associated discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a records management role within a law firm is required.
- A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of supervisory experience is required.
- Professional certification such as a CRM, CIP, or IGP is desirable.
