So, what will you be doing as a Quality Manager?
- The Champion of Leggett & Platt Branch 1506 Quality System. (LP9000)
- Responsible for ensuring labor scanning reports and attendance calendars are completely accurate.
- Communicate changes in the manufacturing process to supervisors and employees in a timely manner to ensure the manufacturing of quality product.
- Ensure new employees receive proper tools and training to produce a quality product.
- Coordinate and implement changes in Product Specifications generated by Corporate Quality assurance or branch management request.
- Ensures with Branch Management that employees follow all quality programs.
- Ensure department operates safely and efficiently.
- Responsible for completion of any assignments from the Branch Manager to ensure efficient and effective department operations.
- Responsible for the review and authority for the disposition of nonconforming product.
- Conform to all Quality and Safety requirements and procedures.
- Participate in training programs.
- Follow all written procedures, Work Instructions and Quality Plans.
- Keep a clean and orderly workplace.
- Participate in and be committed to the Continuous Improvement Process, Quality, Safety, LP9000, and TPM.
- Provide support in your work position for Total Productive Manufacturing’s (TPM’s) ultimate goal of maintaining in a “like new” condition with no safety concerns and no breakdowns. Key components of this process are assisting or performing quality PM’s, PDM’s and C.L.A.I.R. related task. As well as participating on Equipment Improvement Teams (EIT’s) to determine and eliminate root causes of machine breakdowns.
- Oversee LP9000 quality system documentation (manual, procedures, work instructions, quality plans, quality records) as the LP9000 “Management Representative”.
- Oversee gage calibration program.
- Understand product specifications and tolerances and make documentation available for all products produced.
- Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate work activity of QA Technicians and Document/Data Control Clerk on three shifts.
- Oversee the calculation and use of key indicators for Corporate Quality Department (weekly).
- Function as a member of Branch Management Team.
- Enter data on computer as needed.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans.
- Develop and maintain system level procedures.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Ability to effectively supervise a large group of people in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work overtime and other shifts as needed.
- Must be a team player and a team leader.
- Must have a good understanding of Safety procedures, Continuous Improvement Process, Quality, and TPM.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have the ability to lift, stoop, bend, and move quickly to perform all physical demands.
- Must be able to give and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Must exhibit acceptable attendance.
- Must understand quality is main aspect of job.
- College degree or associate degree, or related experience with quality preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, LP9000 or an associated quality-based system.
- Must have basic mathematical skills.
- Must have decision-making skills.
- Must be able to read and understand various measuring devices. (Ex. Tape Measure, micrometer.)
- Must have good time management skills.
- Computer knowledge a must. (Word, Access, MiniTab, Excel).
- Must be able to work independently.
- Previous manufacturing experience is a must.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to understand, fill out, and train all necessary partners on paperwork such as quality records, labor scanning reports, inventory control records, returned goods records, etc.
Things we consider a plus:
- Ability to be trained/certified in forklift operation is a plus.
