Full-Time Project Management Engineering Supervisor III
Job Description
- Manage the project management team who coordinate and manage the daily activities associated with our centrally-managed Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and non-STIP portfolio of construction projects during the pre-construction phase to ensure project schedules and defined outcomes are met which includes estimating, validating, re-estimating project times and schedules.
- Maintain an overview of project tasks and milestones and work with team members to expedite completion of critical tasks to meet deadlines.
- Interact with resources and permitting agencies.
- Review NEPA and SEPA documents.
- Manage Project Managers facilitating and guiding transportation projects through the project development process.
- Assist Team Leads managing resource allocations and utilization, focusing resources on project delivery with the outcome of delivering projects within scope, on schedule, and within budget, setting performance measures and goals, measuring work accomplished, making recommendations on staff performance/disciplinary issues, and providing instructions, guidance, and coaching to team members and participate in the hiring process.
- Collaborate and coordinate with NCDOT teams, initially, and during project development, on project scope, deliverables, schedule, key decisions, and other issues.
- Interact with NCDOT Engineers, unit heads, local government officials, legislative representatives, congressional delegates, advocacy groups, and the public.
- Experience managing and directing project management staff, leading multi-disciplinary teams, promoting teamwork, and fostering communications with Senior Leadership, stakeholders, citizens, and among project team members.
- Experience scoping construction development, work estimates, contract negotiation, progress report validation, invoicing approval, and providing consultant evaluations.
- Significant construction project management experience, especially scoping, developing work plans, allocating resources, assigning tasks, managing schedules, monitoring and reporting progress, managing risk, cost containment, ensuring quality, decision-making, coordination, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the overall NCDOT project delivery process, including transportation and highway engineering, techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal/State laws and regulations, and FHWA and NCDOT design policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 5+ years experience; and
- 3+ years supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
