Full-Time Project Management Engineering Supervisor III

Job Description
- Guide and coach project managers delivering projects to drive efficiency and effectiveness of your team’s ability to achieve project goals, deliverables, schedules, and organizational expectations.
- Directly manage large and complex projects.
- Work closely with NCDOT Divisions, project team members, and stakeholders to understand expectations, discuss and resolve issues, and drive progress in achieving project milestones.
- Proactively manage the scope, schedule, budget, and risk for complex State Transportation Improvement Projects (STIP) and Non-STIP projects and ensure the quality of deliverables meets and exceeds NCDOT expectations.
- Independently coordinate project delivery activities across multiple disciplines through the preconstruction phase (including environmental studies, design, special provisions, quantities, and final plans).
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with your staff, NCDOT units, discipline leads, and other internal and external stakeholders to understand the project needs and challenges, and remove obstacles, solve problems, and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee private engineering firms on external projects.
- Experience managing and directing project management staff, leading multi-disciplinary teams, promoting teamwork, and fostering communications with Senior Leadership, stakeholders, citizens, and among project team members.
- Experience scoping construction development, work estimates, contract negotiation, progress report validation, invoicing approval, and providing consultant evaluations.
- Significant construction project management experience, especially scoping, developing work plans, allocating resources, assigning tasks, managing schedules, monitoring and reporting progress, managing risk, cost containment, ensuring quality, decision-making, coordination, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the overall NCDOT project delivery process, including transportation and highway engineering, techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal/State laws and regulations, and FHWA and NCDOT design policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 5+ years experience; and
- 3+ years supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
