Full-Time Production Supervisor

Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Production Supervisor within our Production team to help support our Vertex Fasteners business. Vertex Fasteners develops, manufactures, and distributes fasteners, fastening tools, and fastening machines used in the assembly of a wide variety of products, and markets, including upholstered furniture, bedding, automotive seating, cages & traps, as well as fencing and razor wire.

So, what will you be doing as a Production Supervisor?

  • Ability to learn the operation of all production machines. This will involve a hands-on approach with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes priorities based on customer commitments while maintaining effective operations and cost controls.
  • Ensures that products are produced on time and that quality standards are met and maintained by all involved.
  • Coordinates all production, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, materials, equipment, and methods.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operational problems and improving quality and deliveries.
  • Monitor and maintain production schedules and priorities.
  • Consult with engineering relative to modifications or changes that may improve or enhance the quality of the products.
  • Compiles, retrieves, communicates, and stores operational data.
  • Identifies, records, communicates, and initiates solutions to any problems related to product or operations of the departments.
  • Stop the production of nonconformity related to product, process, and system.
  • Supervise a team of workers ensuring that all procedures are followed.
  • Evaluate employee job performance and attendance and maintain accurate records and files.
  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintain compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Hiring of new employees within your departments.
  • Oversees and or conducts training of new or existing employees ensuring their training is documented.
  • Liaising among different departments to improve communications and effectiveness.
  • Help plan and direct weekly production meetings.
  • Assist with inventory control and physical inventory processes. Production entries.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports our quality policy.
  • Develops and recommends improvements of facility, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintains a commitment to the company vision, mission statement, and quality policy and procedures are followed.

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • High School education or higher
  • Must have a minimum 5 years of proven supervisor experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of machinery and components with a strong mechanical and/or electrical background.
  • Ability to supervise, direct others, and lead by example.
  • Must be able to negotiate conflicts and problems.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have a cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others.
  • Must be able to lead by example through the efforts of developing a team environment and work whatever hours are necessary to get the job done.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Bilingual a must (Spanish & English)
  • Strong knowledge and practice of safety standards and procedures
