Full-Time Product Owner
Job Description
CivicPlus is a leading software provider for local governments. Our platform enables local governments to improve communication and engagement with their citizens, streamline internal processes, and enhance community services. We are seeking a talented and motivated Product Owner to join our team.
The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the development team. The PO interacts directly with business stakeholders and clients in order to understand their needs. The PO helps order the items on the product backlog to best achieve goals and missions. This position interacts directly with the Software Development Manager, Software Designers, Quality Analysts, Product Managers and Software Engineers to ensure that business needs are properly implemented.
We’re excited to hire a new Product Owner who can:
- Acts as the subject matter expert for the product
- Collects and unfold requirements
- Distributes information to stakeholders while managing expectations and scope of the project(s)
- Conducts meetings across various departments and positions in a professional and proficient manner
- Facilitates work across development teams to ensure that work is completed efficiently and consistently
- Coordinates and conduct communication across business sectors and with clients to gather requirements
- Establishes user story acceptance criteria and accepts stories into the baseline
- Leads requirements gathering effort on the epics and user stories, as needed – consulting product management, implementations, clients, etc.
- Documents story details based on the epics and user stories and after review with development
- Attends scrum meetings, including standups, retrospectives and reviews
- Leads backlog refinement to decompose/estimate stories
- Works with UX on design UI/UX details
- Answers questions from developers, clarifies requirements, etc.
- Documents the release notes
- Contributes to vision and program backlog
- Owns team backlog and implementation
- Drives sprint content via prioritized stories
- Demonstrates latest sprint to internal customers and gathers feedback
- Familiar with the Scrum framework and Product Owner role
- Strong time management skills and project management skills
- Must thrive in a fast-paced, time-compressed and dynamic environment
- Experience in Story Mapping
- Skilled at writing acceptance criteria
- Skilled at meeting facilitation and presentation
There is no perfect candidate, but we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of relevant product management, product owner, or business analysis experience in an agile environment
- 5+ years in software development
