Job Description
We are looking for a talented Product Application Engineering Specialist to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Support product development, introduction, and delivery process in a multidisciplinary environment and translate the voice of customer to product life, functional and performance specifications. Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with engineering development team, internal and external customers, service engineering and other application engineering teams.
• Participate in, and monitor custom prototype, product and project integration activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements, including certifications and safety requirements; resolves any manaufacturing, quality or engineering issues and/or processes, which may surface throughout the complete period of product integration, design, and deployment.
• Identify, initiate, and validate product engineering changes as needed (electro-mechanical design changes, process changes, specifications, and/or SOPs) to further improve product in relation to manufacturability, serviceability, reduced cost, and improved quality and durability for various fuel cell applications.
• Uses a hands-on approach, with proven problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities, to maximize the utilization of engineering validation tools.
• Supports fuel cell power systems integration efforts through working knowledge of process, mechanical, and electrical systems design.
• Participates in data collection with up-to-date data analysis methodology of product testing and field deployments, in order to provide feedback on systems controls strategies.
• Supports the development of technical product documentation for custom projects and applications. This includes fuel cell systems and sub-systems in a multidisciplinary environment (mechanical layouts, electrical and electronics block diagrams, P&ID diagrams, bills of material, technical specifications, customer memo etc.).
• Employs a clear sense of prioritization and aims to deliver targets on time while to fulfilling multiple tasks. Remains calm in new and unexpected situations, with timing and resource constrains. Must be a team player, and also a pro-active contributor, while working with cross-functional teams spontaneously with positive mindset.
• Applies and improves processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA,
• Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) and tools such as 7-step problem solving, design review checklist and other specialized tools required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.
• Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team as well to external integrators and partners.
• Travel as required to customer site for field commissioning support in order to perform product training, application review and inspection as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
• More than 5 years of automotive, power or thermal engineering field expertise is preferred. Professional Engineer recognition is a plus.
• Prior Senior or Lead or Systems Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
• Knowledge of MS Office, CAN data tools as well as E/M-CAD tools is preferred.
• Strong written communication skills and technical documentation capability on drawings, instructions and manuals in order to deliver the message clearly and promptly as needed in real time.
