Position Description
The Print Shop Production Support I role, based in our Tallahassee, FL office, is responsible for organizing and preparing electronic documents for printing, operating high volume commercial printers and other bindery machinery, and packing printed and bound materials for shipment. This position involves supporting the day- to-day operations of the print shop, cross collaboration between departments, and maintaining equipment to meet production goals.

High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Adobe products
Proficiency in operating printing equipment and understanding print processes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks effectively.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Good organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory and prioritize tasks.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities, including communicating with colleagues in person, on the phone, via web teleconference, and via email.
Previous experience in a print production environment or similar role is preferred. Additional training or certification in printing technology or related fields is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Operating various machinery, including reaching, bending, and using step stools or ladders if necessary.
Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of protective gear (e.g., gloves, goggles, ear protection) when working with machinery or chemicals.
As a Print Shop Production Support I, you will:
Operate and maintain various printing equipment, including digital printers, folding equipment, electronic paper cutters, and other bindery machines, ensuring optimal performance and output quality. You will execute intricate bindery processes with precision, specializing in the manual operation of letter presses and other specialized machines to produce high-quality, handmade products for clients across multiple departments. Responsibilities include processing client binder job tickets on a monthly schedule, purchasing specialized city seals for bindery stamping, and managing the inventory of all binder sizes and colors.
Daily cross-collaboration with multiple departments is essential. You will utilize keen attention to detail to identify and rectify issues during the digitization and printing processes, ensuring document accuracy and completeness. Effective collaboration with proofreaders and editors to implement precise corrections and maintain high-quality standards is required. Proficiency in computer software essential to our digital initiatives is necessary to ensure seamless integration into daily tasks and projects. You will manually process special pages, including color printing, foldout pages, and the creation of book covers, along with assembling specialized books for clients and handling files that cannot be digitized. Preparing materials for printing, including loading paper, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper alignment to meet job specifications, is also part of this role.
Additionally, you will identify and troubleshoot technical issues or malfunctions with printing equipment and monitor and manage inventory levels of printing supplies, including inks, papers, and toners, then placing orders as needed. Working closely with the print shop supervisor and other team members to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain effective communication is crucial. Additionally, you will handle shrink wrapping, boxing, and preparing orders for shipment, managing shipping through UPS and USPS, preparing daily ship lists, scanning all daily job tickets for finance, and sorting and distributing mail for the company. Lastly, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Compensation and Benefits:
The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and is based on a 40-hour work week.
