We are looking for an exceptional Principal Data Scientist, Platform Development to join our team!

 

The Platform Development organization is responsible for developing an integrated platform, workflow, establish performance metrics and processes for each system within the end-to-end workflow decomposed from high level customer and application requirements.  As well as to characterize and mitigate how each system affects upstream and downstream steps to ensure a robust platform, and ultimately crafting the verification and validation strategy of that platform in support of commercialization.

You are a data scientist with experience in statistical data analysis, design of experiments, predictive modeling, root cause analysis, and utilization of databases populated from a variety of manufacturing, customer workflow and performance data.

Using these skills you will partner with the various design and systems teams to architect the optimal design of experiments and the needed statistical analysis across hardware, software, reagent and consumables in the release of those individual components, as well as the integrated platform for internal releases, early access customer releases and formal verification and validation studies for commercial releases.

You will partner with the design and analytics teams to develop metrics of interest for the platform and data visualizations tools needed to support integration, troubleshooting, trending, reporting, dashboard creation from multiple database sources to drive discovery of sources of platform variability and performance improvements.

 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Lead the organization in optimizing design, development and integration study designs, endpoints, and analysis strategies.
  • Develop statistical analysis plans, coordinate and perform data analysis and validation as necessary, and provide data interpretation.
  • You will provide expert statistical consultation and comprehensive data-analytic support (including computation of experiment size) for the design of prospective as well as retrospective studies and work closely with a cross-functional group including Research Scientists, Software Developers, Project and Product Managers, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance.
  • Function as a data translator, an effective communicator who can transform data findings into recommendations to compose reports and executive level presentations.
  • Develop data visualization tools to drive quick data-driven decisions or to be utilized to understand relationships between manufacturing and performance data.
  • Form hypotheses. Test them with existing data if possible; if not, design experiments to prove or disprove them.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biostatistics, Physics, or other quantitative field. PhD preferred.
  • 20 years, or equivalent, hands-on data science/data analysis experience, working with scientific data.
  • Maintain proficiency in multiple statistical analysis and sample size software including nQuery, SAS, R, JMP, python and Minitab.
  • Knowledge of data structures and common methods in data transformation.
  • Strong hands on data analytics, statistical modeling, and design of experiment experience.
  • Machine learning skills (clustering, PCA, linear and logistic regression, etc).
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to coordinate workload and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to change and take on unexpected challenges a must.
  • Ability to present and communicate data analysis results to non-experts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with others.
  • Experience with scientific data visualization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Molecular Biology and complex instrumentation concepts is preferred.
  • Understanding of analytical validation and clinical trial design and evaluation a plus.
  • Prior experience with US-FDA 510(k) product development/submission, 21 CFR Part 11 a plus.
