Our team is based across the UK. Within the Investment Department, we run a number of investment funds across equity and debt. Our Portfolio Managers operate and support at the heart of our investment activities, providing vital scale-up finance to the UK’s most promising creative businesses.
This role is a part of a small fast paced Investment team, constructing and managing all investment model portfolios, making sure that they are suitable for different client groups, risk profiles and client outcomes. You will be pivotal to ensuring our portfolio is well managed, this added value will enable the success and growth of our investee companies and shape your own journey within the team.
Our Portfolio Managers will have some previous relevant experience in Portfolio Management or Project Management. You will have the appetite, self-confidence and must be determined, data driven and have the ability to build relationships. You should hold a strong work ethic and not shy away from rolling your sleeves up to do the work necessary in building a truly unique and successful investment programme.
LOCATION: North East, within commuting distance preferred (flexible hybrid working offered, office space in Newcastle upon Tyne).
CONTRACT: Part-time, 3 days per week, permanent
SALARY: £40,000 FTE pa + benefits
REPORTS TO: Senior Portfolio Manager
KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage day-to-day portfolio monitoring for all funds under management.
- Analyse and appraise monthly management information to ensure portfolio risks are visible and managed effectively.
- Establish and maintain best practice systems and approaches to portfolio management.
- Add value to CUK investment by providing support and guidance to portfolio clients.
- Present recommendations on forbearance and contract variations to Credit Committee.
- Where necessary attend client Board meetings.
- Analyse key performance indicators to produce reports on portfolio performance.
- Escalate issues that threaten portfolio and fund success.
- Contribute to the establishment of common practices, tools, and templates for portfolio and project management, and ensure adherence to company and legal standards.
- Develop and implement best practice compliance functions.
- Provide a loop back function to colleagues on sector trends and concerns.
- Identify new investment opportunities from within the investment portfolio.
- Take Credit Committee minutes, thus providing early visibility to new deals and covenants.
- Work with marketing to set up/attend key events and generate portfolio newsletter.
- Create portfolio reports for Credit Committee and Trading Board.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- An understanding of financial and investment documentation and management accounts.
- Ability to manage client relationships, particularly in challenging periods such as contractual breaches.
- Personal integrity and an ability to maintain confidentiality of company and client information.
- Ability to articulate and report on portfolio performance and risk.
- Ability to use one’s own initiative to research and develop new systems and processes to drive continued improvement in portfolio management.
Desirable Experience, Knowledge and Skills: - Passionate about the creative sector, striving for business and industry growth
- Knowledge and experience of small and medium size businesses, ideally in creative sector
- An understanding of the North East region’s business landscape,
including key stakeholders and economic
challenges/opportunities.
