The Position:

 

We’re on a mission to bring cloud native best practices to the Air Force, we are looking for multiple experienced Platform Engineers to be a part of Kessel Run’s All Domain Common Platform team. You’ll join a group of diverse, passionate engineers from all manner of backgrounds, responsible for the development, security, and operations of Kessel Run’s global runtime platform. Together, we’ll revolutionize the way software is developed, integrated, and deployed in the government sector, and tackle critical problems that impact everyone.

What You Will Do

  • Understand modern software development methodologies and tooling (continuous integration, version control, modern build systems, vulnerability management and dependency management)
  • Ideate and implement approaches to automation, deployment, and change management for third party systems/applications (treat operations as a development effort)
  • Write robust automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, operation of third party systems/applications.
  • Solve complex implementation problems associated with environmental parity across multiple environment types.

Who You Are

  • You are passionate about working, partnering with, and growing/accelerating the Air Force to do software development and want to see them acquire and build systems in a cost efficient and well thought out manner
  • You have experience working with cloud offerings (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • You have designed and built scalable containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Mesos)
  • Has (or able to obtain) CompTIA Sec+ certification.
  • You have experience with infrastructure as code implementations using either HCL or Ansible and are comfortable building robust automation architectures.
  • You are comfortable mentoring software engineers on how platform features work and providing documentation and training associated with platform technologies.
  • You feel comfortable speaking up when the wrong technical direction is being taken.
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-13 up to GS-14 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $79,468 to $122,077 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $102,601 to $157,614
