Job Description
Wage: $40.18 – $49.40/hr.

Hybrid Telework: This position is designated as “hybrid telework,” meaning you will be working both remotely (from home) and in person at an onsite location. Two days will be onsite. The designation of Hybrid Telework may be subject to change at a future time. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. The onsite work location for this position is Multnomah Building: 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97214.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; There may be some flexibility with start and end times. Flexible schedules will also be considered (i.e. 9/80 or 4-Ten).

The Payroll Specialist Senior position in the Central Payroll unit provides assistance to the County in ensuring that master data duties, supplier maintenance, and related functions are properly and timely processed. This position assists as a Payroll Team lead for the County deferred compensation plan and reconciles all payroll balance sheet accounts. Additionally, this role provides quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
This position will have duties focused on the following areas:
- Create and Maintain Supplier and Customer Records
- Deferred Compensation
- Payroll Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations
- Payroll Processing
WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO:
Payroll is a part of the Department of County Management’s Finance Division. Payroll’s mission is processing timely and accurate wage payment to all County employees, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local wage and hour laws, withholding and remitting taxes and other deductions, issuing wage and tax reporting statements and administering the pension and deferred compensation programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree. Experience may substitute for a degree.
- Three years of payroll experience or a combination of payroll and finance, GL accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to pass a background check, including fingerprinting
