Under general supervision, performs moderately complex planning and evaluation of data network systems. Assists in network planning and development of standards and applications. Recommends resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. Evaluates new products as assigned. Works with an individual business unit on specific project assignments. Errors may cause minor delay, expense, and disruption.
Responsibilities:
This position provides engineering support for Energy internal telecommunications long haul single mode fiber infrastructure. Tasks will include completing calculations, analysis, research, design, installation instructions, documentation, procurement, and installation oversight (as needed). Work will be completed with the oversight of the group lead or other assigned group members.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have:
1) Knowledge of telecommunication concepts associated with the design and installation of single mode fiber systems.
2) Knowledge of typical standards and practices used within telecommunication buildings and rooms.
3) Detailed knowledge of DC power systems and batteries (-48VDC).
4) Effective oral and written communication skills.
5) Effective computer skills including AutoCad and Microsoft Office Products
Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
6) Ability to manage 20-30 small projects simultaneously.
Education
5+ years of related experience
