As the marketing director you will work work at both the strategic and tactical level to deliver on association goals, marketing and communications strategic plan, and key performance indicators. You will envision and execute new marketing approaches and channels to reach and engage key audiences, including members, staff, donors, and volunteers. You will articulate and enhance member value proposition and ensure it is optimized in all public facing material. You will be able to manage multiple projects gracefully and balancing contending priorities in a fast-paced environment.
In this position you will be able to use your skills for:
Membership, Operations, and Program Integration:
- Work collaboratively with key leaders to establish and manage membership acquisition and program enrollment goals. Integrate with teams across the organization – including digital experience, member experience, operations, programs, accounting, information technology, and staff experience – to develop and execute the membership acquisition and program enrollment plan to meet goals.
- Utilize diverse marketing and communications skills including graphic design, copy writing, editing, blog writing, and social media posting to fulfill execution of membership, operations, and program plans.
- Support creation and management of content marketing strategy with digital experience team in support of new member goals.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to implement changes required to successfully meet new member goals.
- Partner with local executive directors to identify, pilot, and create new member acquisition initiatives and scale successful efforts in a One Y manner across both online and offline channels.
- Regularly communicate acquisition plan updates across the organization, as well as key performance indicators and results of acquisition plan.
- Ensure membership and operational readiness for all acquisition efforts.
- Analyze competitive landscape and market data to recommend, develop and implement adjustments required to meet established Association goals and objectives.
Project Management:
- Fulfill and/or project manage incoming marketing and communications requests across the organization.
- Define and document project scope, goals and deliverables for small and large marketing and communications projects that support organizational goals in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Define tasks and required resources necessary and ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Develop project plans, timelines and associated communication documents, in collaboration with team members, and monitor, track and report on progress.
- Communicate with team members to receive detailed updates, clarify specific requirements of each project, and ensure quality standards. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including library of standard operating procedures.
- Track and measure project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
- Work collaboratively with the internal accounting team to establish and maintain relationships with third parties and vendors for timely and accurate execution of projects.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Manage users and maintain accurate user database across all marketing and communications platforms.
Staff Engagement and Supervision:
- Recruit, acclimate, and provide direct supervision and coaching to creative services contractors.
- Manage external partnerships to expand advertising and co-promotion opportunities.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Review, approve, and submit contractor invoices to payroll department.
- Track volunteer hours and record appropriately.
Fiscal Management:
- Assist with the creation of a budget, manage resources, and make necessary adjustments to carry out marketing and communication plans.
- Monitor monthly financial reports to assure revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Provide monthly budget report and executive summary with key performance indicators demonstrating spend, resource allocation, and adjustment needed for membership, operations, and program marketing and communication efforts.

- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
- You have 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications operations, with experience in membership growth.
- You have 2+ years of experience in project management and developing and tracking budgets.
- You have advanced time management, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- You have knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external communications.
- You have solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- You are proficient in project management software tools, customer databases, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Basic experience with Adobe Suite required.
