As the Manager of Occupational Health & Safety, key responsibilities include:
- Maintains and builds upon NLC’s established OH&S Program, furthering NLC’s safety oriented culture in alignment with NLC’s vision, mission and values
- Develops, executes, monitors and evaluates relevant strategy, initiatives, policies and procedures to promote the OH&S mandate and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulations
- Provides sound advice and information to the NLC management and staff to promote OH&S objectives
- Produces relevant indicators and metrics that reflect NLC’s OH&S performance
- Implements and monitors a system of hazard recognition, evaluation and control aimed at preventing incidents
- Oversees incident reporting/investigation process and provides support/leadership to management and staff
- Provides oversight and guidance to the Corporation’s 23 OHS committees and 6 Worker Health and Safety Representatives in the performance of their duties
- Ensures that a health and safety training database is kept up to date and that all work locations have sufficient numbers of employees with current certifications in mandatory training programs
For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of a university degree in a related field, supplemented by certificate/diploma level coursework in OH&S
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement progressive initiatives and policies, and engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Strong knowledge of applicable OH&S and Workplace NL policies/procedures and legislation
- Broad knowledge of wellness programs including mental and physical health
- Ability to develop education/awareness material and to facilitate groups
- Certified Registered Safety Professional (CSRP) Designation is preferred
- Ability to travel across the province to visit NLC locations

Salary: HL 23: $75,770 – $98,500 annually
