Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Brand, the Manager, Marketing leads the development and execution of Vector’s integrated marketing strategy through a high-performing team of specialists. This role drives data-informed marketing initiatives to grow the Vector brand, generate leads, and achieve long-term strategic objectives. Overseeing marketing team members, the Manager develops and manages Vector’s marketing campaigns including brand development, demand generation, digital marketing initiatives, and strategic partnerships in alignment with the marketing plan.
Additionally, this role orchestrates collaboration between marketing initiatives and Vector’s communications, government relations, and events teams, while managing relationships with external agencies and freelancers to ensure seamless execution of marketing programs across all channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the Director, Marketing and Brand, as well as, senior leadership team, develop, implement, and lead Vector’s marketing campaigns in alignment with the annual marketing plan;
- Support the Director, Marketing and Brand to conduct a comprehensive annual review of marketing needs, to inform the annual marketing plan and campaigns;
- Partner with others on the Marketing and Communications team as well as various cross-functional teams at Vector to set priorities, define goals, and develop effective and compelling campaigns to engage Vector’s customers/ audiences;
- Using performance and growth marketing from the Digital and Analytics Specialist to provide actionable insights to continuously improve the effectiveness of Vector marketing initiatives;
- Develop and implement fundraising/growth marketing campaigns, account-based marketing campaigns, and tactics to drive pipeline and revenue growth;
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather stakeholder insights, present recommendations, and coordinate effective plans to help Vector improve offerings, positioning, and value propositions;
- Map and track Vector’s customer/ community member’s journeys and develop content strategies to activate tactics to maximize conversion or engagement in Vector’s diverse offerings;
- Collaborate cross-functionally with AI Engineering and the Industry Innovation teams to develop a product roadmap for Vector’s sponsor portal, ensuring marketing requirements and customer insights are effectively integrated;
- Develop content and channel strategies to attract businesses, students, and partners to Vector while working closely with the marketing and communications team to integrate into the current content calendar (editorial, paid media, social media, email, etc.);
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team, to manage a rich content calendar that supports a regular cadence of various types of content (e.g., interactive tools, blog posts, eBooks, video series, infographics, product guides) that are aligned to Vector’s audience and stakeholder’s journey;
- Work with the Digital and Analytics Specialist to maintain the monthly and Quarterly analytics and reporting requirements providing insights to support optimization of campaigns, programs, and marketing efforts;
- Manage Vector’s brand across all internal/ external channels;
- Manage CASL compliance through others ensuring Vector remains compliant;
- Develop and manage comprehensive creative briefs and scopes of work for agency partners or Graphic and Web Design Specialist, while supporting team members in coordinating freelance resources to ensure project success;
- Champion and steward the Vector Institute brand ensuring high quality and consistent messaging and branding across all channels and materials for customers;
- Collaborate strategically with Sponsors or organizations who are part of Vector’s programs to leverage their participation as use-cases, testimonials and co-marketing; and,
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.
KEY SUCCESS MEASURES
- Progress towards Vector’s strategic objectives is enhanced by the development and implementation of marketing campaigns;
- Measurable increases in brand awareness, consideration, and program participation from Vector’s community and in Vector offerings;
- Delivery of qualified leads meets or exceeds annual objectives for acquisition and retention of community members to Vector’s programs (e.g., students, SMEs, industry sponsors, health partners etc.);
- Measurable increase in reach and frequency of communication to Vector’s communities (e.g., via growth in email marketing lists); and,
- Increased frequency of success and impact stories, testimonials, and value proposition reaching and resonating with target audiences including executive decision-makers at Industry companies and SMEs.
PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related discipline.
- 7+ years experience in digital marketing, consulting, communications, information technology or equivalent.
- 2+ Experience managing and mentoring a team directly.
- Passionate about building comprehensive B2B marketing campaigns, with proven expertise in growth marketing, fundraising, and/or account-based marketing.
- Experience creating and managing marketing campaigns in compliance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation and privacy legislation.
- Verbal and written French is considered a strategic asset.
- Ability to build productive cross-functional relationships and exhibit excellent critical thinking skills and experience influencing stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Experience simplifying complexity and experience communicating with technical, business, and external stakeholders.
- Experience developing plans, building processes, and using analytics to execute successful marketing strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, and be comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and a track record of resilience under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work successfully with various organizational levels, including colleagues, senior executives, and external partners.
- Deep interest and or experience in the AI or technology sector.
- Strong understanding of digital advertising platforms.
- An understanding of not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
