We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Licensing Manager on our Health Solutions team.  As the Licensing Manager, you will develop and manage direct licensing arrangements for AMA assigned business products including business development, licensee liaison, contract development and administration, and licensee performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop intellectual property licensing arrangements. Represent the AMA in negotiations with licensees for direct licensing agreements for assigned AMA business products to provide the best possible outcome to meet AMA’s overall goals and objectives. Identify, investigate, and resolve potential copyright infringement of AMA intellectual property. Analyze proposed uses of AMA intellectual property. Structure arrangements to comply with AMA licensing guidelines.
  • Analyze and monitor licensee performance to ensure contract compliance. Maintain strong and effective ongoing relationships with licensees by working with and communicating to licensees on a regular basis about appropriate use of AMA content, obtaining a license for use of the content, complying with the terms of the license agreement and permitted use. Ensure the proper Licensing Model is a applied to the business use.  Monitor industry trends in licensee market segments.
  • Assist in managing relationships with other areas within the AMA, including legal, business, finance and advocacy units, to ensure a coordinated and informed intellectual asset management strategy for the AMA.
  • Educate internal and external audiences on licensing of AMA intellectual property including software developers, publishers, specialty societies, federal and state government agencies, and healthcare providers and payers regarding license of AMA intellectual property.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
  2. At least five years’ experience in related areas such as accounting, contract administration or compliance programs. Experience in non-profits and/or licensing preferred.
  3. Advanced level Microsoft Office skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  4. Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively communicate complex material.
  5. Demonstrated ability to think critically and speak persuasively extemporaneously.
  6. Strong negotiation and writing skills.
  7. Well-developed analytical and problem solving, project management and planning skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with challenging situations and people.
  9. Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  10. Demonstrated ability for effective organization and management of multiple priorities within deadlines.
