Do you like maintaining a clean and pleasing appearance at your place of work? Are you a hands-on individual? The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is looking for individuals who enjoys working in an energetic environment, who is willing to learn and grow their skill set.
As Lead Custodian, you will work with our Facilities team, for our members, to perform the necessary functions and activities required to keep the facility clean inside and outside such as upkeep of the building, operating cleaning equipment, and following all safety protocols.
If hired, some duties may include:
- Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Conduct frequent inspections of interior and exterior of facility to identify custodial needs. Work with supervisor to determine priorities and scheduling.
- Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, cleaning spills, sweeping or mopping floors, removing scuff marks from walls and floors, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, and trash removal.
Qualifications:

- Minimum 18 years of age.
- The ability to learn and practice the correct procedures and techniques used in cleaning the facility.
- The ability to learn and practice the safe and correct operation of the equipment assigned to perform the required tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and custodial, maintenance, and office equipment.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Starting Wage: $16.80+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
