Engineering Operations (EngOps) is responsible for cultivating the health, productivity, and impact of the engineering organization. In this role, you will use your analytical skills to surface insights and identify improvement areas, and you will leverage your program management skills to design and drive new initiatives. As solutions take root, you will ensure that the resulting tools or process are operationalized, monitored, and adapted over time to meet the needs of the team and business. Your challenge will be to optimize the productivity and impact of a growing, global, multi-product engineering team supporting a scaling business.
In this role, you will:
- Own the creation and managing of multiple project deliverables, communicating its vision, and ensuring resources are properly aligned.
- Proactively identify operational bottlenecks as it relates to the product development life cycle and prioritize and execute on improvements with thoughtful data analysis and process design.
- Utilize analytical skills to define and track key metrics and performance indicators.
- Consolidate information from various sources and create visuals for tracking and analysis using tools like Tableau, BigQuery, and Databricks.
- Identify risks and blockers to execute on mitigation strategies.
- Help drive process and communication with multiple teams of different functions and scale best practices and operations to large groups of teams outside of your own.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices
An ideal candidate has:
- Is working towards their B.S. or higher, preferably in a quantitative field (engineering, applied math, etc.)
- Knowledge of common project management methodologies such as Agile and Kanban and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrated creativity, leadership, and problem solving abilities with a desire to be a force-multiplier across a large engineering and product development organization
- Excellent analytical skills, passion for data, and intermediate skills in SQL and Python.
- An ability to quickly adapt to new tools and changing work priorities
Regarding COVID-19
With the spread of COVID-19 globally, Samsara’s offices will remain closed until further notice with the exception of phase 1 employees that require access to hardware and lab equipment.
Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of our employees as well as candidates. We have transitioned all interviews and new hire onboarding to be conducted virtually via Zoom video conferencing. We have allowed employees to work from countries and states where Samsara is a registered entity through June 2021. All employees (except field roles) are expected to return to our offices when they reopen.
