Role Purpose:
- Acting as People & OD support to locations and business units on an operational basis
- Providing strategic support where required and in conjunction with the Senior People Partner
- The role will be responsible for providing operational People support to specific locations working with the relevant People Partners
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Advise, guide and support managers in the relevant locations and business areas on the application of key people policies including performance, disciplinary, sickness, complaint, appraisal, recruitment and selection and change management ensuring that Canadian Provincial legislation, policy and best practice are adhered to.
- Support Leaders as necessary to implement People initiatives across the region to ensure global consistency, i.e. Talent and Planning for business growth and development, Span of Control targets.
- Participate in all formal people processes including disciplinaries, complaints and all consultation processes.
- Support hiring leaders in recruitment and selection up to Manager level ensuring that best practice is followed and Civica’s values are adhered to.
- Be responsible for reviewing and writing of Civica’s people policies, ensuring they reflect current legislation and best practice in tackling the cause of issues.
- Deliver excellent problem-solving skills in understanding the implications of various issues and situations, delivering credible solutions on operational issues.
- Process workforce information to identify trends in performance and behaviour, including turnover, absenteeism, vacancy rates while raising line manager awareness.
- Understand wider operational priorities and how people can support these/impact on these i.e. absenteeism, costs, performance, etc.
- To implement and deliver training (where appropriate) in conjunction with the learning and development team on key people policies including performance, conduct, sickness, complaint, appraisal, recruitment and change management.
- Work alongside Senior People Partner to identify priority training needs from appraisals and supervisions, ensuring these are addressed and followed through in development plans.
- Support employee engagement through change management initiatives.
- Support and, where appropriate, lead ad-hoc projects that benefit either the whole business or individual business areas.
- Work with business units to create a culture of customer excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with and support other People Partners on projects and in different locations and business areas as and when required.
- Support the People administration team as and when required.
- Responsible for administration of benefits, including onboarding new employees, answering questions and maintaining accurate benefits information.
- Management liaison to social committee.
- Overseeing immigration procedures, liaising with immigration specialists and assisting foreign nationals who are selected as successful candidates for employment.
- Participate as a key member of the global People & OD team.

- Proven ability to guide and direct on People Policies and Procedures.

- Able to build and maintain effective working relationships across a wide range of contacts.
- Understanding of People and IT systems.
- Extensive up-to-date knowledge of applicable employment legislation.
- Strong and confident communications skills at all levels, both verbal and written.
- Proven strong negotiation skills.
- Has fun within the team and in their work.
- Ability to travel to other locations and internationally as required
