Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hospital Facility Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and enhance facility maintenance systems at hospitals across the Pacific Islands. This role involves extensive travel, approximately 50% of the year, to various hospitals in the region, including Palau, Guam, Saipan, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Majuro, Ebeye, and American Samoa. The ideal candidate will assess local hospital maintenance needs, develop tailored maintenance plans, and provide ongoing training and support to hospital staff.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site visits to hospitals to assess facility maintenance operations, identify areas for improvement, and document maintenance needs.
- Develop and implement customized maintenance plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tools, supplies, repair work orders, and task assignments.
- Evaluate existing work order management systems and implement improvements or establish new systems as required.
- Provide hands-on training and technical assistance to hospital staff on best practices in maintenance, including preventative care and troubleshooting.
- Conduct follow-up visits to ensure successful implementation of maintenance plans and procedures, making revisions as necessary.
- Coordinate with hospital administrators and facility managers to schedule visits, ensuring the availability of key personnel for effective collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Ability to travel extensively across the Pacific Islands and adapt to diverse cultural and infrastructural environments.
- Practical knowledge of technical engineering, construction principles, and facility management.
- Proven experience in facility maintenance, management, or related fields.
- Strong ability to develop and adapt maintenance documentation, even in the absence of equipment manuals or when facing language barriers.
- Excellent training and mentoring skills, with a focus on empowering hospital staff.
- Proficiency in grant writing or proposal development is an advantage.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks across multiple locations.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges of maintaining healthcare facilities, including compliance with health and safety regulations.
Expertise in:
- Experience in multi-site facility management in remote or resource-constrained environments.
- Familiarity with the specific needs of healthcare institutions in the Pacific Islands.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
