Full-Time Hospital Alcohol Practitioner
Job Description
The Essex Alcohol Recovery Community is seeking an experienced practitioner to undertake a unique role as a Hospital Liaison Practitioner role within Essex. You will play a key part on advocating on behalf of clients within A&E and will liaise with family members, social services, GPs and others. You will be based at Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow) but will also support and cover for other areas within Essex.
The Role
We are looking for an individual who has experience of working within the substance misuse sector or health care profession to fulfil a range of tasks from case management to group work. You will need to be passionate about recovery and work with clients to support, motivate and manage them to access a wide variety of services.
Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to our residents.
Due to the nature of working within a hospital, there is flexibility on hours and days worked.
About You
You will need:
- An understanding of the complex issues presented by individuals within alcohol recovery.
- Experience of working with individuals in the substance use sector or related field.
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver brief 1-2- interventions relating to problematic alcohol use.
- Ability to plan, organise and co-facilitate structured groups, including theoretical models
- Confidence in managing a caseload, including managing recovery capital, assessments, reports and referral pathways.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as being able to use you own initiative when required and to manage your time independently.
- Be able to work effectively with multi-agencies, whilst maintaining the excellent reputation of the service.
