The Hearst Talent Scholarship, sponsored by flatshare site SpareRoom, is offering seven budding journalists the chance to work with some of the industry’s most esteemed editors.
Seven winners will be invited to join our editorial teams in London for two weeks. You’ll be paid the London Living Wage, and travel expenses (from within the UK to London, and to and from the office) will be covered, along with shared accommodation in a zone 1-3 London property with the other winners.
During your scholarship, you’ll learn everything from how to structure and edit a story to pitching ideas to senior editors. Scholarships will take place in February 2021 (Covid-19 permitting), and winners must be available for the confirmed dates.
How to enter

(We cannot guarantee that winners will be placed with their first choice, but we’ll try to accommodate.) The closing date for entries is 5pm (GMT) on 6 November 2020, and entries received after this time will automatically be discounted. Entrants’ work will be judged by leading Hearst editors, who will look for originality of voice, tone and subject matter. Winners will be contacted using their submission email address in December 2020.
