Hours: Part time, up to 25 hours per week

Are you a development professional who would like to play a critical role in the YMCA’s community effort to secure additional, on-going, annual funding in support of the YMCA’s strategic priorities, steward our partners and supporters, and ensure a quality member experience?

The Grant Writer is responsible for managing a portfolio of major foundations, corporations, and government donors in support of the YMCA. This position plays a critical role in the YMCA’s community effort to secure additional, on-going, annual funding in support of the YMCA’s Strategic Priorities, steward our partners and supporters, and ensure a quality member experience focused on YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility

As a part time employee, you will receive paid sick leave, program discounts and an individual membership to the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
In this position you will be able to use your skills for:

Financial Development and Philanthropy – Grants:

  • Responsible for managing the cultivation, solicitation, post-award process, and stewardship for grants and gifts from philanthropic sources.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Senior Association Development Director and/or other branch leadership, to identify, strategize and draft grant narratives as identified.
  • Responsible for working closely with branch leadership to collect, categorize, and catalogue data metrics for grant reporting purposes.
  • Meet all grant reports, RFPs, and other identified deadlines in a timely manner by managing a grants calendar.
  • Manage and update portfolio through documentation, reporting, and database management.
  • Assist in identifying potential grant opportunities as they become available.

Financial Development and Philanthropy – Stewardship:

  • Support the Association’s financial development plan and strategies, and advance a culture of philanthropy among staff and volunteers.
  • Prepare written materials, including relevant case statements, proposals, information bulletins and correspondences with major/leadership donors to inform them of the impact of their gift(s), and to keep them up-to-date about YMCA.
  • Ensure that significant donors in assigned area have multi-year solicitation, cultivation and stewardship plans.
  • Assist Chief Development Officer and Senior Association Development Director in identifying opportunities for donor engagement where appropriate (IE. branch advisory council, project taskforces, etc.)

Administrative:

  • Maintain assigned donor records and moves management plan for major gifts and campaigns.
  • Participate in development-related committees as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and conferences as program representative.
  • Assist with events, comprehensive campaign activities and other duties as assigned.

Are you a good fit?

  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • You have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree or four years’ experience in fundraising, business, or related field.
  • You have experience as a frontline fundraiser with demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting and securing gifts of $2,500+.
  • You have computer literacy and a commitment to maintaining integrity of a central database.
  • You have knowledge of YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties’ mission, values, and programs.
  • You have a working knowledge of Pierce County and Kitsap Communities, its leaders and trends preferred.
  • You have the proven ability to work professionally, collegially and effectively with donors or other constituents, colleagues and the public.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • You are proficient with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office and Excel. Experience with Blackbaud, Raisers Edge and SalesForce is beneficial.
