 WHAT YOU’LL DO:

 PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

The Grant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization’s grant-seeking activities by identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and supporting the application process. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all grants are submitted on time, comply with funder guidelines, and are effectively tracked and reported.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management or similar field preferred, but not required.
  2. At least two years’ experience and proven success in coordination and administration within a nonprofit
  3. Must pass criminal, child abuse and neglect, and sex offender background checks.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other electronic platforms
  5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including editing
  7. Must have excellent command of the English language
  8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  9. Able to effectively work independently, prioritize, multi-task and shift tasks
  10. Able to work in shared workspace with distractions
  11. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  12. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Instrumentl is preferred, but not required
  13. Be able to demonstrate the mission of YWCA Kalamazoo and adhere to it

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports the Development Team in the execution of a comprehensive grant procurement strategy.
  2. Conducts research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
  3. Submits LOIs and supports grant-writing as assigned
  4. Maintains a comprehensive list of relevant grants and track deadlines, guidelines, and eligibility requirements utilizing Instrumentl – YWCA’s chosen grant management software.
  5. Assists the Development Team in preparation of grant proposals including compiling supporting materials and ensuring all necessary documents are included.
  6. Maintains accurate records of all submitted grant applications and outcomes.
  7. Tracks grant funds awarded and supports the Development Team in managing reporting deadlines.
  8. Supports the Development Team in scheduling funder meetings and check-ins.
  9. Identifies areas for improvement in the grant proposal process and work to streamline and optimize systems.
  10. Represents YWCA at events and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  11. Stays up to date on industry trends and best practices.
  12. Supports the Director of Development with special projects as capacity allows.
  13. Attends all team and staff meetings, participates in collective team and agency efforts, and complies with all YWCA Kalamazoo policies and practices.
  14. Remains flexible and manages changing priorities on a continuing basis.
  15. Knows and adheres to Association policies, procedures, and practices.
  16. Safeguards confidential information gained because of the position.
  17. Complies with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse.
  18. As a YWCA employee, projects a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community.
  19. Works cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
  20. Demonstrates the mission of YWCA and adhere to it.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned in support of YWCA Advancement Department and all fundraising activities.
