Full-Time Final Estimates Technician

Job Description
- Monitor construction activities in HiCAMS and Construction Team Site to ensure proper documentation during the construction process.
- Review monthly estimates submitted by the Resident Engineer’s staff for completeness and accuracy
- Check contract final estimates and documentation supporting estimates, including reviewing final estimates for compliance with established procedures, checking contract pay record books and ticket books for accuracy, compiling information regarding contract requirements and reporting of payments, communicating with contractors and the NCDOT project staff to validate data, editing entries in HiCAMS, and processing final estimate for payment.
- Communicate with internal and external construction partners throughout the estimate process.
- Provide assistance to internal NCDOT staff with technical support in HiCAMS and Construction Team Sites
- Research project records to assist in the evaluation of claims.
- Coordinate public record requests for employees, attorneys, public officials, and contractors.
- Review contract files to ensure claims and agreements are accurately maintained.
- Compile and transfer project records in accordance with record retention procedures.
- Provide technical support on business procedures and proper use of systems, and develop standard and non-standard reports for system users, NCDOT audits, and public requests.
- HiCAMS contract functionality experience, and considerable knowledge of math functions, such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Experience reviewing construction documentation, including pay records, material received reports, estimates, and other reports in accordance with the Construction Manual.
- Experience using Construction Team Sites for construction documentation.
- Experience taking notes and preparing and/or reviewing reports.
- Experience communicating with employees to provide instruction on construction policies and procedures.
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, and
- 6+ years progressive technician experience; or
- High School/GED Diploma, and
- 8+ years progressive technician experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
