The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. Over the past few years, we’ve grown to a staff of 90+ talented individuals dispersed across the country and around the world.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As the Regional Field Organizer, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and leading  individuals from across your region to join THL’s expanding community of supporters. This position reports directly to one of the Regional Organizing Managers.

This is a full-time, remote, US based position. Candidate must reside in NC, SC, TN, KY, IN or IL. Travel is currently paused due to the pandemic, but typically this position requires occasional domestic travel, equivalent to approximately 2-4 trips per year. We are only able to consider applicants who possess United States work authorization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively identify, recruit, and lead individuals from across your city/region to join THL’s expanding community of supporters. Grow our network and re-energize our existing network.
  • Train, motivate, and retain volunteers to take on leadership roles for THL and to execute a variety of actions and events to further our campaign efforts and overall mission to end the abuse of animals for food.
  • Efficiently manage volunteer tracking tools (in EveryAction) to keep meticulous records of volunteer activity and progression within THL’s changemaker circle.
  • Act as the face of THL to individuals (including donors identified by Development), local media, and community groups, including speaking at events, in webinars, and on video conference calls.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Mission-aligned: Strong commitment THL’s philosophy and approach, comfort engaging in pressure campaigns, and identifies as vegan or is on the path to becoming vegan. While not required, experience in grassroots advocacy, volunteer management, or the animal rights movement is a plus.
  • Leadership: Ability and enthusiasm to effectively lead, motivate, empower, and engage various target audiences. Because the movement includes people from a wide range of backgrounds, the ability to navigate issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.
  • Problem-solving: Forward-looking thinker who anticipates needs, actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions with strong decision-making capability. Must be self-directed and able to plan and coordinate many projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to interact with all staff, donors, volunteers and the public in a positive, professional and outgoing manner. Experience with public speaking is highly preferred.
  • Teamwork: The successful candidate must be creative and enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven and community-oriented. The ideal individual is a highly resourceful team-player who works effectively with all levels of staff, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently, and displays dedication to the work and role.
  • Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive with minimal direct supervision in a remote workplace with time-sensitive administrative tasks.
  • Technology: Highly proficient in using contemporary office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and the like. Demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly and independently. Experience with any of the following is a plus: EveryAction (or comparable volunteer database), Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Slack, Asana, and ThruText.
  • Flexibility: Willing to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, and travel 2-4 times per year to volunteer events, trainings, and staff retreats.

Starting salary $39,100 or salary to commensurate with experience.
