Full-Time Facilities Management Director
Job Description
The mission of the Department of Facilities Management is to promote the stewardship of county resources by ensuring that county facilities are constructed, renovated and maintained to provide for energy efficiency, safety, and practicality, thus promoting a positive atmosphere for all residents and county employees. The department is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the county’s 45 major buildings and numerous other structures, as well as the 12,000-acre county park system.
The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and quality of the county’s more than 3.5 million square feet of buildings and more than 12,000 acres of park lands. This includes efficient heating and cooling, building renovation, housekeeping, parking management, moving services and building trade services. A successful Director must have problem-solving skills and foresight to manage large teams and capital projects while maintaining close relationships with Public Works and Parks Departments.
The Facilities Management Director’s core responsibilities include:
Supervise and Run Department Operations:
Oversee staff of the Facilities Management Department in ensuring the highest quality care for county buildings and parks. This includes caring for the internal infrastructure of the county’s forty-five major buildings and numerous other structures, as well as and the external maintenance of park facilities to enhance the beauty and usability of park assets including ski slopes, wave pools, golf courses, and recreational facilities.
Oversee Property and Casualty Program and Injury and Illness Prevention:
Manage the property and casualty program for all departments within the county government. This includes loss control efforts geared toward the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as loss control relative to potential property and liability claims against the county.
Candidates should have at least fifteen years of experience, ideally including experience improving the accessibility of parks and public spaces for marginalized communities.
Anticipated annual salary: $135,000
