Full-Time Executive Director, Talent Acquisition and Employee Journey

Job Description

Island Health provides health care and support services to more than 860,000 people on Vancouver Island, the surrounding islands in the Salish Sea and mainland communities north of Powell River. With more than 27,000 staff and over 2,900 physician partners, 1,000 volunteers, and the dedicated support of foundations and auxiliaries, Island Health delivers a broad range of health services, including: public health services, primary health care, home and community care, mental health and addictions services, acute care in hospitals, and much more across a huge, geographically diverse region.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, People, the Executive Director establishes and oversees the strategic planning and operational requirements of Talent Acquisition at Island Health.  During these times of talent scarcity in global Health Human Resources this position is critical to the ongoing success of the Health Authority. The Executive Director is responsible for long-term workforce planning, ensuring that talent acquisition strategies align with the organization’s strategic plan. With the support and backing of the leadership team, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to rebuild against a competitive landscape.

 

This is a great time to join Island Health as a key member of the People senior leadership team, working alongside their colleagues in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Scheduling, HR Strategy, and Safety, Health & Wellness. The Executive Director, Talent Acquisition’s mandate will be to develop a talent acquisition strategy that will modernize, centralize the approach to attraction and recruitment of talent so there is consistency for the employees’ experience in a complex organization. The Executive Director will work closely and collaborate with other leaders at Island Health to achieve great cultural transformation.

 

In addition to leading change and cultural shift, the Executive Director will be accountable for the management of the departmental budget and staffing to ensure seamless, efficient, and effective delivery of services within the People vision. The portfolio will also oversee the critical functions of Employee Records, Onboarding, and Work Design & Compensation.  Key partnerships are with senior Island Health leaders and other health authority leaders, unions, contractors and agencies.
