What Your Job Will Be
Perform Construction Operations. Safely and efficiently operate heavy and light equipment and tools to build manholes and catch basins, installing sewer pipe, grading, forming, pouring, paving, and hauling.
Perform Winter Operations. Plowing, salting, brining and removing snow.
Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by conducting pre-operational checks on equipment, checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary and assisting in performing other minor maintenance repairs.
Maintain Building and Grounds. Perform landscape maintenance and general housekeeping tasks.
Additional Responsibilities. Assist Sanitation Division with route collection as needed, and other duties as assigned.
Skills You Will Need
Experience. This position requires candidates to have a CDL Class B with no air brake restriction at the time of application, and have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with N Endorsement within one year of hire. At least two years previous experience in road construction or a closely related field is required.
Knowledge. Knowledge of municipal equipment and manual transmission operations, supplies used to repair and maintain asphalt and concrete surfaces, safe use of chemicals, and general principles and practices of operating and maintaining construction equipment.
Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed.
