Position Purpose
In collaboration with the Upward Bound Tacoma team and with direction and support of the Director of Upward Bound Tacoma, this position is responsible for maintaining and building positive relationships with participants, families, and partner schools, as well as promoting high school academic achievement and post-secondary success for program participants. This position works within the target schools of Mount Tahoma and Lincoln High School to provide direct services for students, including check and connect interventions, as well as college, career, and academic advising. Based on these relationships, this role develops and teaches college success courses and plans career and cultural workshops tailored to student interests, aspirations, and needs. These responsibilities require strong organizational abilities and coordination of student workers and temporary staff, as well as coordination with other programs and organizations like outreach, colleges, universities, community-based organizations, social service agencies, and other Evergreen programs and offices. The position requires commuting between work sites, including Evergreen, high schools, agencies, and cultural events.
This is a full-time, overtime eligible, project at The Evergreen State College. This project position is funded by a US Department of Education Upward Bound Classic grant through May 31, 2027 and is dependent on continued federal funding. This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules.
Salary and Benefits: $4,367 – $4,765 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
