Role Summary
The primary objective of the Product Strategy team is to partner with the senior leadership team at Mellon/Dreyfus and provide strategic insight to help the organization excel in a very dynamic and highly competitive environment. As a key member of the team, the Product Strategist is expected to demonstrate the ability to work across business lines and levels of seniority and be highly adaptable to organizational need-driven change. The role requires deep analytical abilities and strong communication skills to garner cross-functional support for critical product initiatives.
This position can be based in New York or Pittsburgh and is a hybrid role (2 days in the office, 3 remote)
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Develop ideas for new products/product enhancements and extensions
- Analyze complex/large volumes of data to draw conclusions that help inform the senior leadership team and allow for robust product decision-making
- Identify industry trends with a view to recommending changes and enhancements to existing capabilities, products, pricing strategy and product rationalization to ensure Mellon/Dreyfus are ahead of the curve
- Under the direction of the heads of the business, manage the development, enhancement, and profitability of assigned products and perform both operational and marketing analysis to ensure profitability and penetration goals are met
- Employ client-focused, strategic approach to develop business case for firm offerings in the marketplace through in-depth and complex analyses on client segments, competitive landscape and industry environment
- Support and execute the strategic product roadmap through engagement with product, portfolio management and distribution teams
- Ensure all key stakeholders work within the guidelines of the product governance framework and appropriately channel product development work streams through the organization
- Partner with strategists and portfolio managers to provide strategic direction on product marketing collateral to achieve the best approach to positioning products for specific client segments, highlighting key benefits and competitive advantages
- Perform product training and assist in the preparation of sales materials for internal consumption
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of work experience in a product management, portfolio management, client-facing capacity in the asset management industry preferred
- In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of products and asset classes but with a specific focus on cash products.
- Strong understanding of Environment, Social and Governance aspects implemented in investment products and portfolios
- Strong knowledge of institutional, wealth and retail channels and deep understanding of sales process and decision factors across multiple client profiles
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills with the ability to present to large audiences
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and has ability to work across the organization to achieve stated project goals
- Self-driven with positive “can-do” attitude and can work well in teams
- Proficiency with industry data sources and tools – Bloomberg, Morningstar, eVestment, Factset, Lipper
- BA/BS required. MBA/CFA preferred.
