DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a talented Director of Software Engineering to join our team specializing in Digital Technology. This role is remote.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Build Cummins team with capabilities and knowledge of software engineering and IoT, Edge Computing, AI/ML, Cloud Native, Web, mobile technologies, etc.
• Deliver quality Commercial Digital Products to the marketplace in a quick and iterative manner while aligning with enterprise services and architecture.
• Selecting and implement technology in support of developing and maintaining Digital Products and services, to include Edge Computing, IoT platform, Cloud, Mobile, and Web.
• Develop and deliver standard Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which are used to integrate with existing leading industry telematics service providers, using their systems as gateways to capture engine data.
• Responsible for developing and delivering web services, web portals and mobile software.
• Key member of the Digital Leadership Team, including assisting in the development of Cummins’ digital technology vision and strategy.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent degree in computer sciences or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Deeply technical personal skill set. This leader needs to be capable of being a player/coach for the managers and individual contributors in their organization. While this role will not be actively coding, a successful applicant must be capable of doing so in a modern cloud platform and technology set in order to effectively mentor the teams in their organization.
• Technical Management: Experience leading highly technical teams of software engineers.
• Prior experience in a startup technology company with responsibilities for software development products highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of industry standards and integration methods with vehicle networks, communication protocols and standards, usage of Information Security (including industry direction and standards), and mobile platforms/protocols.
• Prior experience in using Agile (SAfE) software development methodologies responsible for systems management tooling and automation.
• Understanding and working knowledge of application and infrastructure architecture.
• Understanding of capabilities and offerings of major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google, Salesforce).

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

“Annual Compensation Range: $142,000 – $183,000.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
