GoPro is seeking a top-tier candidate for the Director, Marketing Strategy position based in San Mateo, CA, but with remote working flexibility. This position will be responsible for developing and driving unified marketing and DTC strategies to scale our DTC business across eCommerce and Subscriptions significantly.
Responsibilities
Reporting into the CMO/GM of the DTC Business for GoPro, this position is responsible for developing high-level strategy, business plans, budget forecasts for the DTC business.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a cross-functional and collaborative environment and have a deep understanding of GoPro’s target audience. It will be the Director of Marketing Strategy’s charge to help research, prioritize and transform various initiatives, innovative product offerings and global opportunities into a solid strategy that can be measured and implemented given the companies resources. In addition, the position will also play a critical part in defining eCommerce commercial plans as well as go-to-market processes to help bring DTC programs to consumers in a holistic and consistent way.
- Understanding the near-term and long-term value of building and scaling a profitable DTC business through eCommerce and subscriptions.
- Remain mindful of macro and micro trends (domestically and internationally) which impact consumer behavior. Lead the design and development of strategies which leverage the connection between our company, our products, and evolving consumer needs to drive profitable company growth in a dynamic and increasingly competitive environment.
- Work closely with the eCommerce team, Engineering teams, Product marketing team, Performance media team, Consumer Insights & analytics team and Marketing teams to drive effective strategic development and program management across functions.
- Use consumer insights and analytics to help create relevant, strategically sound strategies, plans, and influence campaigns
- Collaborate with the CI & Analytics team and regularly report relevant market insights to for future development of global-strategy.
- Lead the annual business planning process for the DTC team including strategic adjustment, business function collaboration, budget planning and prioritization.
- Develop annual budget forecasts across DTC in partnership with Finance and DTC budget owners.
- Align with Marketing leadership to define objectives, goals and metrics of success
- Lead the quarterly business review process across DTC to report out on objectives and results.
- Lead the commercial planning process across DTC to maximize profitable volume while working within channel constraints/considerations and creative resource constraints
- Lead the quarterly Board of Director updates for DTC to capture recent successes, areas of opportunity and strategic tradeoffs/questions.
- Provide regular (weekly, monthly or quarterly) reports to senior or executive management highlighting ROI metrics, overall success and lessons learned from global initiatives and activations
Skills We’re Stoked About
- Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA is a plus
- 10+ years of experience in globally recognized brands in the Retail, Lifestyle, (Action) Sports or CE industry
