Director of Marketing & Communications
Green Meadow Waldorf School is seeking a full-time Director of Marketing & Communications to begin in July 2021.
Primary function: To plan, direct, and implement the school’s marketing, media, and communications program in support of recruitment, retention, community awareness and reputation, internal and external communications, and community fundraising.
Primary tasks:
Marketing (Recruitment)
Design and implement the annual GMWS Marketing and Communications Plan and an integrated Threefold Educational Foundation (parent organization) plan and ensure its alignment with the Board Strategic Plan; includes creation, management, and implementation of ad campaigns; planning marketing/outreach events; overseeing social media, SEO, and web/blog strategy; and producing online/print materials (including the annual Parent Handbook & Community Directory)
Develop the yearly marketing budget in collaboration with the Director of Operations and Controller, defining appropriate marketing mix, evaluate results against goals and articulate ROI
Develop ad campaign messaging and oversee ad design and placement; follow through to payment
Strategize with and provide all content for consultants on SEO and social media; track budget and expenses for these consultants
Maintain and analyze effectiveness of the website and implement changes as needed, with assistance from SEO consultant and input from all stakeholders, including the Admissions Team
Develop materials for and publicize various school programs, projects, sports, events, student/faculty/alumni achievements, and philanthropy initiatives; support in creation and distribution of announcements, press releases, mail, e-blasts
Communications (Retention and Reputation)
Support all staff/faculty/parent leadership in the area of messaging and maintain awareness of the impact of all communications (intended and unintended) on the integrity of the school’s brand
Analyze and improve internal and external communications on an ongoing basis, including social media channels; streamline and maximize effectiveness of all communications, monitor their effect on retention, and create new (or phase out existing) vehicles as necessary
Maintain media list, cultivate relationships with the press, plan for and manage crisis communications
Maintain an awareness of the school’s reputation (through analytics and other tools) and distribute research that supports the brand
Create, distribute, and analyze periodic surveys of stakeholders
Coordinate production of collateral materials and promotional brochures
Maintain photo and video archive and coordinate school photography and videography
Support the Alumni Program, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement
Support movement-wide initiatives such as Waldorf 100 and participate in AWSNA-led continental initiatives
Required skills:
Organization and time management, strategic planning, program development, project management, marketing/advertising/storytelling, strong written and oral communication, intermediate or better computer literacy and ability to serve as webmaster and learn new tech platforms quickly, strong motivation for and abilities in outreach/networking/management of volunteers and consultants.
