Full-Time Director of Facilities

Job Description

Position:  Facilities Director

 

 

The Facilities Director maintains and oversees the Academy’s grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure that the workspace is safe and functional. Duties include negotiating contracts with service providers, inspecting facilities to meet safety regulations and coordinating renovations and updates.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees building and grounds maintenance.
    • Ensures that the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures.
    • Monitors the grounds, bathrooms, offices, and common areas of the office building on a daily basis to assess the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots, and outdoor public areas; and determine if maintenance, repairs or renovations are needed.
    • Maintains day-to-day operations of facilities, including the opening and closing of the building (either of which may be delegated), processing supply orders, coordinating certificates of insurance, scheduling bulk shredding, and completing any maintenance orders.
  • Supervises the facilities coordinator; security personnel; and vendor relationships. including cleaning services, landscaping, snow removal, and general contractors.
  • Schedules routine inspections (fire, kitchen, elevator, etc.) and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
  • Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.
  • Respond to and handle emergency issues promptly, including those related to repairs and maintenance.  On call for emergencies 24/7.
  • Manages and reviews service contracts (HVAC, energy management, landscaping, security, waste removal, roofing, plumbing, etc.), as well as invoice review and approvals.
  • Oversees on-site and off-site (non-archival) storage use.
  • Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management.
  • Responsible for project design and management of any renovations and/or upgrades or existing systems.
  • Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly, including collaborating with security system vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.

 

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

  • Bachelor’s degree in facility management, business, engineering, or equivalent professional level experience.
  • 5 -10 years in facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions, OSHA regulations, and other environmental regulations related to facilities management
  • Strong procurement and negotiation skills
  • Must be a well-organized, customer- oriented (internal and external), and a self-starter

Salary Range: $78K – $90K, commensurate with experience
