Who You Are

The Director, Evaluation & Research (“Director”) will be based out of a home office located anywhere within the contiguous United States. This is a part-time position funded through June 30, 2022.

The Director plays a key role in support of New Leader’s mission of promoting high academic achievement for every child by serving as an invaluable partner to the Higher Education Partnerships Team, leading program evaluation, engagement-specific learning, and continuous improvement.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Leading communication of actionable insights generated from a study describing outcomes for UMSL and OSU program graduates, including:

  • Sharing study findings in an actionable format with internal audiences a part of an organizational learning agenda, including:
    • Contributing to existing, or creating new, feedback loops to improve program content, delivery, and dosage.
    • Supporting content upgrades.
  • Sharing study updates to support meaningful and productive client engagement with key constituents, in partnership with the Higher Education Partnerships Team.

Leading evaluation for the Higher Education Partnerships work, ensuring meaningful feedback loops for continuous programmatic improvement, including:

  • Understanding relevant local context and New Leaders’ relationship with University Partners;
  • Supporting University Partners in developing and implementing their self-evaluation plans;
  • Ensuring accurate, timely, relevant, and actionable execution of data collection, analysis, and dissemination;
  • Ensuring that funder specific learning and reporting needs are met; and
  • Supporting the facilitation of learning events, for example, mid-year and end-of-year step backs, partner-engagement events, etc.

Lead disciplined inquiry for practice improvement and learning by:

  • Building relationships of trust and confidence with colleagues across teams
  • Actively participating in workgroups to support determining data needs and reporting strategies for program execution, program monitoring, ongoing learning and improvement, and external reporting.
  • Ensuring lessons are integrated into the organization’s cross-cutting data and improvement science strategy.

Skills, Experiences, and Competencies

  • Belief that every student, in every circumstance, can achieve the highest levels of academic excellence, and deep commitment to New Leaders’ mission and vision.
  • Broad base of evaluation knowledge and skills, including identifying and reporting metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience completing research, evaluation, or performance management projects, preferably in education (which may include early learning, K-12 education, academic enrichment, wrap-around services, or general youth development), and prior experience managing or overseeing research, evaluation, or performance management projects required.
  • Demonstrated experience executing rigorous qualitative studies and collecting qualitative data (including focus groups, interviews, and observations).
  • Effectively communicate research results for non-research audiences, including strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and a commitment to producing consistently high-quality work on short timelines.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent facilitative leadership skills that enable consensus-building across teams.
  • The ability to identify challenges and actively work to find solutions.
  • The ability to work effectively with others at all levels of an organization and to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
  • Experience in the K-12, high-need education sector, higher education, and/or school leader development.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years professional experience required, including 3 years working with and successfully leading and managing complex programs.
  • Must be able to travel periodically.
