We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our software development practice at LegitScript. To be successful in this role, you will need to be confident in managing multiple scrum teams, executing on product development goals while supporting current operations. As well, you will be responsible for setting goals, managing staff growth, hiring, budgets and driving our business forward.  You will have the responsibility to recruit, manage and mentor great engineering talent to support and deliver world class products to our customers. Ultimately, you collaborate with your Product Management and Architecture peers to ensure we enable innovative technologies while simultaneously ensuring our DevOps team can support the products you build.

What You’ll Do:

• Leverage your experience, knowledge of good metrics and coding skills to drive sprint commitments for each of the scrum teams.
• Collaborate with other technical leaders in the organization to pragmatically evolve existing systems where possible and construct entirely new systems and services when necessary
• Ensure compliance with our various security and compliance expectations (SOC 2 / ISO 27K)
• Provide technical leadership to your direct manager reports and all software engineers to deliver world class products while mentoring teams, staff and managers to improve their technical and business acumen
• Champion our values and culture

What You’ll Bring:

• Have more than 7 years of relevant experience developing large-scale, cloud-native systems on AWS and 5+ years of software engineering management experience.
• Possess expert level knowledge of data management fundamentals and distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing.
• Manage distributed systems with automated release processes and champion platform observability.
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related science discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Be highly competent in scrum disciplines as defined by the Jira tool suite.
• Have lead team(s) building data products incrementally and real world experience integrating and managing datasets from multiple sources.
• Work to build and maintain effective working relationships along with willingness to set and maintain high standards of performance.
• Collaborate with the team to establish processes to ensure high quality coding practices are being utilized

• Regularly provide technical guidance to the team through code reviews and design sessions
• Collaborate with management and stakeholders on best technical approaches to rapidly resolve issues and maintain business continuity
