Full-Time Director, Emerging & Executive Learning

Job Description

The IIA is looking for a motivated contributor to implement the curriculum strategy via partnerships with third parties related to emerging topics in the internal audit profession. In addition, the role is responsible for revitalizing an update to our executive learning strategy as well as strategic alignment of our conference program content with The IIA’s content strategy

This position will: Specifically, this role focuses on the future state of Vision University in terms of planning and facilitation. In addition, this role is responsible for contracting with third parties to fulfill curriculum needs for short-term learning trends that will not be owned and maintained by The IIA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

Partnership Programs   

  • Provide strategy and direction for the content and learning objectives to be covered in alignment with competent internal audit professionals related to emerging topics.
  • Identify third-party partners for trending content and competencies for the internal audit profession.
  • Ensure content aligns with The IIA’s position on critical topics.
  • Execute contracts with third parties to acquire, license or leverage turnkey training courses.
  • Coordinate delivery with peers such as directors of in-person and virtual learning.
  • Coordinate with technical peers such as instructional design and learning management system (LMS).
  • Coordinate and lead strategic conversations with affiliate peers related to training needs and offerings globally.

Executive Training 

  • Revitalize the strategy related to executive training.
  • Ensure strategy is in alignment with entity-wide executive initiatives spanning from membership, content, and through assessment/designations.
  • Design, develop and implement updated content in partnership with the curriculum and delivery teams.
  • Facilitate the training on an as-needed basis.

Conference Programs 

  • Collaborate across business units to ensure strategic alignment of our conference program content with The IIA’s content strategy.
  • Support identification of tracks to meet the needs of internal audit professionals related to each of the IIA headquarters conferences. This includes General Audit Management (GAM), Governance, Risk & Control (GRC) in partnership with ISACA, International Conference, Emerging Leaders (former All Star), Financial Services Exchange (FSE) and other forums such as Women in Leadership (WIL).
  • Review speaker submissions and provide input based on the quality of the submission and knowledge of the profession.
  • Assist with the integration of principal partner content into the programs.
  • Act as a speaker for conference sessions in the event of a cancellation.

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: 

  • Manage key curriculum development initiatives from planning to launch ensuring delivery of the best product, within the agreed timeline and achieving performance objectives.
  • Apply recognized project management principles and make decisions with little or no supervision in order to simultaneously and efficiently manage multiple project plans and timelines and ensure tasks and projects are successfully completed within scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage and update project plans, procedures, workflows, and training materials related to the curriculum development team.
  • Provide timely and relevant communications and reporting regarding curriculum status updates and metrics to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IIA peers to identify emerging industry trends and conduct gap analysis with current programs to foster a constant flow of ideas to impact program development and ensure that The IIA’s professional development programs are relevant and forward-thinking helping internal auditing professionals meet the changing demands of stakeholders.

 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with other functional/departmental leaders so as to fully understand the activities in support of IIA’s agreed-upon objectives, purposes, and achievements.
  • Understand trends and feedback from the Sales team to identify future training needs.
  • Travel to various IIA training events and committee meetings, domestically and internationally throughout the year as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for supervising the training sales team consisting of three employees, including one direct report sales manager and another sales member and administrator. This role also has the responsibility of collaborating with additional subject matter experts.

Education and/or Experience 

Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university required. Seven or more years of related experience and/or training in internal auditing. Minimum of three years at the manager (or higher) level.  CAE preferred. Experience with internal audit quality assurance reviews preferred. Experience with association management and learning/training development is highly desirable.  Experience with an international organization is an asset to any role within The IIA.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or the ability to achieve CIA designation within first 12 months of employment is required.

Occasional travel is required
